User Experience degrees are often lumped into information science departments (I know the Pratt Institute has a robust UX program, and I believe Indiana has a similar track in the ILS degree) for this very reason. UX incorporates a lot of information search in building interfaces, both physical and virtual (fundamentally, is the information clear, how do we get from one step to another). One of the many assignments for the User Services and Tools course is to break down the steps of services that I encounter (UberEats, parking apps, click-and-collect library services, ordering a book online) and think about what makes some stronger than others. I've found that services that have a clear thruline that anticipates what questions the user asks next are the strongest.
